Activities at
Fit Café
Move. Connect. Recharge. Repeat.
The park has always been a shared space. We just gave it a reason to gather.
Every week, the lawn outside Fit Café hosts people who come to move, breathe, connect, and occasionally do nothing at all. We run weekly classes, monthly events for kids and families, and regular fundraisers for the community around us.
Weekly Events
These are not once-off workshops. They are part of the rhythm of the park — same time, same place, same familiar faces building up over weeks and months.
Iyengar Yoga in the Park — with Charlene
Every Saturday at 9am. Meet at Fit Café in the park. Booking is essential. R120 per class.
Iyengar yoga is precise, unhurried, and deeply attentive to alignment. Charlene brings that quality of attention to the park setting — open air, natural light, and enough space to actually breathe.
This is a practice that meets you where you are. Props are used throughout, which means it works for complete beginners and experienced students equally. You do not need to be flexible. You need to be willing to pay attention.
Walking Meditation Group
We love that Ernest Ullman Park is becoming a gathering point for our community. Lee-Anne shares details of her walking meditation group below:
“Sandton – Morningside DR Joe Dispenza Walking Meditation Group
We’re off to a beautiful start with our walking meditation group at Ernest Ullman Park in Morningside. Join us every Sunday at 08:30 throughout winter.
If you’ve been “doing the work- Dr Joe Dispenza” and feel called to connect in person, you’re warmly invited to walk with us.
Please bring along your meditation and headphones. If you don’t have a walking meditation, we’ll be happy to share Walk for the World with you. 🧚♀️🌸🌼
We gather for coffee afterwards, with space for meaningful conversation and connection.
Feel free to reach out to LeeAnne Dicks on 0812820461 or Neville on 0713515717 for more details, or simply come along and join us at the Fit Café.”
Monthly Events
Alongside our weekly programme, Fit Café hosts two recurring monthly events. One for families and kids, and one in support of the community around us. Both are open to the public.
Kids' Event - Monthly
One day a month, the park gets a little louder.
Our monthly kids’ event happens every month — workshops, creative sessions and outdoor activities. Designed to get children off screens and into a shared space with other kids and adults who are present with them.
Family-friendly. Younger children welcome with a parent or guardian. Check the calendar or follow us on socials for the month’s specific event and booking details.
Friends of Sandspruit — Monthly Fundraiser
Sandspruit is the river that runs through the park. And like most urban rivers in Johannesburg, it needs people who care enough to fight for it.
Friends of Sandspruit is the community organisation working to restore and protect the Sandspruit river and the green corridor it runs through. Once a month, Fit Café hosts an event in their support. Whether that’s a clean-up, a fundraising activity, a community lunch, or something else entirely depending on what the river needs that month.
These events are part of why Fit Café is here. The park belongs to everyone. Keeping it worth belonging to takes all of us.
